Har Ghar Tiranga

Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.

“To mark this momentous occasion, you are encouraged to hoist the flag in your homes from 13th to 15th August 2022.” 

The national flag will be hoisted by presenting tricolour flag kit to more than 30,000 Jain families. Shri Nirav Shah said that therefore an overwhelming plan has been made to hoist the national flag at the homes of 30,000 Jain families.

Jains have always been at the forefront of national devotion, if we look at history, Amar Shaheed Hukumchand Jain and Amarchand Lantia had sacrificed a lot in the past time. During the freedom movement, more than 5000 jains went to jail, 6 members of the Constituent Assembly of India are also Jains. In 1942, 12 jain freedom fighters were imprisoned in a jail in Mandleshwar, Madhya Pradesh and during that time they had celebrated the paryushan in  jail.

Jain pioneers and institutions have always contributed to the works of war, natural calamities and national development and will continue to be so.

On this holy day of patriotism, every Jain family in Surat will be delivered to their homes with a suitable kit to hoist the national flag by Shri Nirav Shah Ji and be inspired by this act of patriotism. For this, Tushar Bhai Mehta, President of Shri Jain Yuvak Mahasangh, General Secretary Raju Bhai Mehta and all the workers have already started organizing the system.For this, many Jain youth unions and organizations will be coordinated to make this Bhagirath work a success. Religion will be protected only in the environment of national security and national development

The Indian National Flag symbolises national pride and is one of the most respected national symbols. The late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru called it “a flag not only of freedom for ourselves but a symbol of freedom to all the people.”

As per Indian laws, the national flag is to be made up of khadi. The flag code of India governs the usage of the flag. Initially, the use of the Indian flag by private citizens was prohibited, except on national days like Republic Day and Independence Day. But gradually, some changes were made by the Union Cabinet about the flag’s use by private citizens. The code was amended about its usage for hoisting and its adaptation to other types of clothes.

The Flag Code of India brings together all laws, conventions, practices, and instructions for the display of the National Flag. It governs the display of the National Flag by Private, Public, and Government Institutions. The Flag Code of India took effect on 26th January 2002.

A citizen, a private organization or an educational institution may hoist or display the National Flag on all days and occasions. There is no restriction on the timing of flag display. The government has amended the Flag Code of India to allow tricolour to be displayed in the open and on individual houses or buildings day and night. The Flag Code of India was earlier amended in December last year allowing the use of polyester, apart from cotton, wool, silk and khadi for making hand-spun, hand-woven and machine-made flags. 75 years of independence and the glorious history of India’s people, culture and achievements. The programme envisages inspiring Indians everywhere to hoist the national flag at their homes. The aim of the programme is to make the relationship with the national flag a more personal one rather than just keeping it formal or institutional. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and promote awareness about tricolour. Earlier, Indian citizens were not allowed to hoist the National Flag except on selected occasions. This changed after a decade-long legal battle by industrialist Naveen Jindal culminated in the landmark Supreme Court judgement of January 23, 2004, that declared that the right to fly the National Flag freely with respect and dignity is a fundamental right of an Indian citizen within the meaning of Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution of India. Naveen Jindal has urged every Indian to make ‘Har Din Tiranga’ their motto. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged citizens of the country to use ‘tiranga’ as their profile picture on social media accounts between August 2 and August 15. On Wednesday, PM Modi said the Indian national flag does not contain only three colours in itself but is a reflection of the pride of our past, our commitment to the present and our dreams of the future. Addressing a Tiranga Rally in Surat via video conferencing, PM Modi recalled that in a few days’ time, India is completing 75 years of its independence and said that all of us are preparing for this historic Independence Day as the Tricolour is hoisted on every corner of the country. The Prime Minister expressed happiness that the Tiranga Yatras being held across the country are a reflection of the power and devotion of the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan. “From August 13 to 15, the Tricolour will be hoisted in every house of India. People from every section of society, every caste and creed are spontaneously joining with only one identity. This is the identity of the conscientious citizen of India,” he said.
